Grr Ethel was VERY naughty today .. on one rein when being lunged shes as good as gold and ignores the other horses in the field even though she can see them clearly. The other rein she shoots off backwards towards them rearing and generally being a cow .. she actually reared so high today that she went over backwards and just when I though we were getting somewhere she reared right infront of me when I walked towards her and was VERY close to conking my on the head!

Anyone have any ideas how to sort her out? I tried lunging with two lines but that didnt work either :/

I am quite new to this ,but Id thought Id try share sum ideas from my similar experiences.try and stay behind the horses movement all the time incase he does turn in,and if he prats around do repemand and push him forward with the whip.Dont give him a chance to mess around, watch out for signs tht hes going to perform and be one step ahead.Patience and repitition with spooking or napping is the key Im afraid, but its all worth it for good results.Prehaps using sidereins with a standing martingale to prevent him from going up, or something simular?Sometimes you really do have to fight a horse on the lunge to get the best results-so make sure you wear a hat incase he does give you a clonk!

Does she usually have a problem on one rein? Is it always the same one? If yes, I would check for pain. It is a bit odd for a horse with a behavioural issue to be fine on one rein but play up on the other.
