In our field there is my mare (15) and my friends two, a mare (7) and her foal gelding (1.5) They were weaned and separated at the usual time for about 6 months, then circumstances meant they were back together. All three get on really well in the field.
However, the youngster seems to be getting so naughty! We help each other out with all jobs - it was my turn to bring in tonight and the little terror shakes his head violently up and down, leans into you using his body weight to push you over, he tried to bolt away from me and I only just kept hold of the leadrope to stop him, he even reared twice tonight which i have never seen him do, the 2nd time he reared, squealed and through himself around! I was so annoyed at him tonight, I try to just give a hard pull down on his headcollar with a firm 'NO' but it seems the more you tell him off the naughtier he gets!! And there was absolutely nothing at the yard that was spooking him, no wind or anything that could give him a good excuse for his behaviour...
He's great in the mornings, its just bringing in he gets really naughty! Hes a heavy cob so we're just abit worried that he's starting to use his weight and strength against us and hes only 1.5yrs...
Any advice??
