Had the youngster scanned yesterday after damaging his tendon sheath 5 months ago playing in the field with his buddy. He had just been to the BEF Futurity in August when he hurt himself. After 5 months off and his education ceasing, he became even hotter than normal and bored. Some of you may of read my previous posts. Ie rearing 3 yo in hand.
Anyway yesterday I was prepared for bad news as we didn't box rest him as there is no way he would walk in hand under controlled excercise. So we sedated and paddock rested him.
Vet came out and trotted up, he was sound and the scan looked really positive.
Still some swelling on the lateral aspect but minimal. So the boy can start to go on the walker for a month then rescan then if still going the right way can restart education. And then maybe he can go to school for his 4th birthday at the end of May.
Was very pleased as put him on the walker yesterday and this morning and has only ever been on 5 times before when he was a 2yo recovering from sequestrum surgery and he was a nightmare and kicked me coming off it. He did 15 minutes foot perfect and looked very grown up yesterday and this morning.
So hopefully he will continue to improve and with his mind being occupied a little more keep his front feet on the floor until we get to the paddock.
Actually felt a bit numb last night after the news he was improving as think I had set myself up for the worst, but hey ho onwards and upwards. Cannot wait to ride him now
