Just back from the yard & I can honestly say I LOVE my horse:D
We have been having lessons all week - Tuesday we decided to free school her over poles & SMALL jumps to try to get her out of the habit of launching herself at jumps & getting her to look at poles etc - she can be a bit too brave at times! ( cant wait to get her around an XC Course next mth )
Id a bad fall couple wks ago where she tried to run out at the second part of a double but there was no where for her to go so she catleaped over a 1m30 wing & I royally came off & landed on my head:eek:

So group lesson last night, couple of horses were spooking at silly things on numerous occasions which had a domino effect on some of the other horses eh not my Mare WHO was the youngest on the lesson - she just kinda looked as if to say eh really what are they looking at ?

Then onto a SMALL jump no bigger than 50cms & WOHOO - we managed it 3 times in a row in a CONTROLLED Trot in a nice rhythm for the FIRST time in ages, no tanking, pulling, cat leaps, etc... my god have never been so happy to trot over a jump in my life!

Tonight had a semi private with a friend , horse she was riding was one of the spookers from the other night & did " throw a couple of shapes" and yet again my Mare didn't react - got some lovely lovely canter work in - she is really starting to engage from behind & feels so much more uphill:)
Then we managed to get some fab walk to canter work done - 2 strides of walk & her signature " bunny hop " into canter - RIGHT leg every time:) Big achievement for us.
Then some pole work in canter & again appart from one or two rider errors did most of it in a steady steady rhythm. NO rushing.

Ive taken everything very slowly with her & am really starting to see the benefits... I also feel so relaxed with her at the moment which has made such a difference on my position.

No pics from this wk but one of her from couple wks ago as it would be a shame to post without a pic:D Hope to get some up to date ridden ones over the next week or two.

Hot Chocolate with Baileys for anyone who managed to make it through the whole very pointless post:cool:

That's really good to hear. I am glad your neck was ok after the crunchy post I was too squeamish to look at!

Funnily enough my coloured mare who I think is the same age? Has come on great guns in the last week or so too. :)

LOL, turns out I had Whiplash & soft tissue damage... ah well could have been worse, lol! We are really coming on leaps & bounds & " That incident didn't set us back " Whereas had it happened 6mths ago it would have been a different story.

Officially my mare is 5 but on passport her birthday is June this year :)

Maybe its a coloured thing this time of year lol! Mine seems this week to be super chilled out as weather is cold BUT dry so she is getting lots of turnout.

Yes same age as mine. I have upped the work load of mine and cut her feed which seems to have helped. She is out 24/7 and has been since I bought her in October so its not that :D
