Warning! *Proud mum post!*
Well since having my 18 month old gelding we only managed to have one walk off site down the road months ago that all went a bit wrong - I think I was expecting a bit much too soon and we only made it about 20 steps before uncontrollable rearing/spinning started :/ and we had do do a very quick exit back home....
So since then I have been doing lots in inhand training and bonding around the yard.
It was so lovely this morning I decided to go for it and we had a 25 min walk down the roads to the next yard.
He was an angel - we went past galloping horses in fields, cyclists, joggers and various traffic and farm machinery and not once did he put a foot out of place. (Well he wasnt very keen on a large pothole that apparantly looked like it was going to gobble him up, but i think I will let that one slide). At no point did I have to put any pressure on the lead rope at all. He stopped when I stopped, sped up when I did and turned when I turned!
So happy with him and glad to see my training is working - big load off my mind and hoping to extend the walks now without having to worry
Well done Mr Ben!
