Hi guys! Quick question.....
thinking of taking my arab to a little local 'winter woolies' show just after Christmas, mainly because I want to take my older mare so our sharer can do an in hand class with her, andshe is a bit loopy on her own!
There isn't an arab class, so think my 2 options are probably riding club horse or ridden light horse. Which would he do better in do you think as an arab? He is reasonaly well schooled, well put together apart from being a bit cow hocked!
Also, should I show him as 'an arab' ie unplaited etc or should I do a running plait and get his mane out of the way?

My other option, if you think thats a bit of a wast of time, is to take my mum's heinz 57 pony....she's a mixture of a variety of native breeds, so should I show her 'au natural' or plait her up? Advantage of taking her wuld be that she can do the same classes as older mare, in hand grass kept and in hand vets.

In actual fact thats not far off the turnout I'd use for a showing class except brown gloves (forgot them that day hence horrid white ones!) and navy stock, plus no saddlecloth obviously. ACtually, have brown velvet hat I might use as its a brown tweed jacket? His mane is LONG...about 6-8 inches.
None of pony I'm afraid, she's nothing particularly special, would be taking her as company for big mare really!

Ok, thanks guys! He is my little star. Will take him then and do the ridden light horse and not plait....result!
Guess even a riding club horse class they need to be of a 'riding horse' stamp then do they? Thing is, he is a very good RC allrounder, been on every team going this year in all disciplines and qualified for Lincoln, but at the end of the day I guess they are being judged on their 'suitability' not 'capability' aren't they!!

Riding Club Horse classes are different to Riding Horse classes, so you could do that too.
Stick to the navy hat, and try and find a tie rather than stock. I'd also show him as an arab.
