Our neighbours cat Monty, was the sort of cat who was never a problem to anyone, you would often see him sat on a car bonnet or our windowsills, everyone in the neighbourhood knew him because he never went far and was such a placid thing. Few years ago he got run over and broke his pelvis and lost his tail and he survived, a real fighter.

On Monday he was sat on his windowsill when a man walked past with his two staffordshire bull terriers ( on the lead) and one leapt up and grabbed Monty's head in his jaws, there was alot of fluff on the pavement and Monty ran up the nearest tree. The owner carried on walking!

After a couple hours they got Monty down and his tongue was hanging out with some blood in his mouth, they called the vet and somehow Monty ran out of the house in shock and scared :-( Today so 3 days later he returned with puss coming out of his eyes and mouth, he was rushed straight to the vets where they said you could spend lots of money on him and they still think he would die, he has a broken jaw in 2 places and a fractured skull with brain injuries, and infection, little Monty was put to sleep aged 8 :-(

i am ridiculously upset about it, I am not a cat person, love my dogs, but it was just the fact he was such a placid thing never bothered anyone, was just happy to snooze all day long anywhere warm, he was always there when you walked out the front door, and to have something so violent happen to you and be in pain for 3 days just isn't fair, he didn't deserve that.

this makes me so angry!! stupid fecking owners!!! similar thing happened near me- a little spaniel was tied up outside a shop for less than 5 minutes and a dog came up, off its lead and ripped the poor dog to shreds! owner comes wandering up some 10m behind calmly calls the dog and walks off while several people are shouting/screaming not knowing what to do.. makes me feel so awful!! horrible people in the world!!
