I hope this post might give some hope to those struggling with injured horses and problems. My horse Oskar spent most of last year off with a fractured splint bone that needed surgery. He had only just come back into work in November when he injured his other front leg - soft tissue damage in the foot. To be honest, I thought that could be it for him. But he started to look a lot better after a few weeks boxrest. Luckily after weeks of walking he came sound, and has been back in the school for a fortnight.
I had my first post-injury lesson on him tonight, and I can honestly say he went better than he ever has gone. He was so soft and rideable, and his trotwork was totally off the floor. Even his canter (not his best pace) felt big, bouncy, and correct.
I am so happy to have my horse back, and am now just praying for an injury free year to get us back on track.
