Hi,

Hopefully one of you can shed some light on what's happened. My dog and I were in bed last night - she was on top of the duvet and my oh came in and whipped back the duvet on the side she was sleeping on. She screamed and then leapt off the bed and screamed again when her foot hit the floor. She went downstairs and we didn't think any more of it until this morning when she most definately can't put any weight on her foot, wouldn't come outside to come with me when I rode the horses (which she does every day and goes beserk till she's let out to run around) etc. She's got a big hardish lump on her joint above her paw and is very sore. What could she have done? Could the duvet have caught a claw or her dew claw and caused this lump.

She is now off her feed too and being totally pathetic about it all. She is a whirrier (whippet x patterdale terrier) and I know that she is quite pathetic when it comes to injuries.

I'm loathe to take her to the vet if she doesn't need it. I can bend the joint and she doesn't get stressed. Only when its pressed!!

Any ideas?

I'd take her to the vet. My Patterdale was limping back in the summer and it turns out we think he went over on his paw (like we would a twisted ankle) and he had a little lump and wouldn't have anyone touch it. The vet said it was a sprain and he had to be on controlled exercise (hmmmm!) for a couple of weeks. Maybe when your OH pulled the duvet back her outter claw may have got caught and twisted. So it might be that, but I'd definitely get a vet to check it out.

Just taken her and she was very brave and then tried to bite me which is most unlike her.

The vet couldn't see much wrong although she did react when had her pad squeezed. She's had an anti inflammatory and pain killing injection and I'm sure will be fine!!

Thanks for all advice.
