hi all, bit of a strange one. we took my sons 13hh N/F 6 rising 7 year old pony to a showjumping lesson last night. Second time he has been there and he is working with horses so has to try hard and is showing them
Do you think we overdid it last night ? he is very fit and on SJ and games team and competes a lot with his devoted owner. I am worried now that we overdid it as he was jumping big but he has done this size before and was jumping really well.

Sorry for the essay just really intrigued and worried about him any ideas ?

Hi, a lot of the post seems to have dropped off. After unloading he went into his stable and then strarted walking two steps forwards and then two steps back, this continued for quite some time. If i held him he stopped and stood quietly. No looking around , no kicking tummy, lots of gut sounds and was eating when he stood still long enough. He kept this up for several hours on and off. he never seemed in pain or distress and never went any different speed. I checked him every 30 minutes and he gradually stopped and settled about 1 this morning. any ideas, he is fine and seems noral this morning

Maybe he'd tweaked something (muscular/ligament)...
He's still young, maybe take it easy for a few days.
Must be tempting to do alot with a pony that keeps giving ...
I'm more into Dressage and have never showjumoed seriously, so in no way an expert.
If it happens again I'd been be tempted to get the pony checked over. You don't want to break him - he sounds very special

thanks, he seems ok now and not done it again. he seemed almost in a trance. very odd . He is having a couple of days off anyway so will do some gentle work and discuss with instructor before next lesson.
