WELL after waiting for nearly 12 hours, Hemir getting stressed and not eating, I was getting to the end of what i could take....and after being told that he may not be able to come out untl the morning..!! He arrived at 8.30, and confirmed what we had suspected, a 'sprained' hip joint, probably from slipping in the field....He's got very strong anti-inflamtories (sp
), and has to have a week off unless he's getting himself stressed nto working (and YES he does get stressed!) then he can be ridden in walk for 10/15 mins, unless it's clear that he's lame, we just have to see how it goes and if he's still lame after his 8 days of treatment, then get the horse vet out because it may be worse, he can't hear any strange noises, can't feel anything out of the ordinary, hsi feet are fine, he has no heat or swelling....etc...etc!! Vet has also said to keep him out, as he will be better out in the field with his girls, instead of getting stressed!!
This may not be exactly what everyone else would do, but Hemir is much happier in the field, and tbh I would rather he was happy, and the possibilty it could take longer for him to recover than have him bored in the stable, and a quick recovery, vet (who knows what Hemir is like with everything!), said it would be best!! LOL!
ok sorry for such a boring update but thanks for get well soon vibes earlier
Boyo is now back in the field munching grass!!!
