Equine Twiglet's being a bit of a pain to groom recently - although only his head and neck area. He's never been like this in the past, and has always enjoyed being groomed. Initially I put it down to the fact he was getting some electric shocks from me, and being a typical TB drama queen, acted like I was trying to murder him. But the shocks haven't happened in ages, and he's still pretty reluctant to let me groom anywhere forward of his shoulder.
He's fine under saddle and going pretty well, so don't think it's a saddling issue. Has recently had teeth done so not that either.
The vet is at the yard tomorrow, but not sure whether to have them look at him, or whether to have a back person out instead. Opinions?

Perhaps he's 'feeling' it rather more through his summer coat and finding it uncomfortable??

My horse hates being brushed full stop - even with a sheepskin pad!

I did wonder that, but the skin/coat is thinnest on his belly, and he's fine with that. It's annoying as he is very tactile and always loved being groomed. Now he's practically head shy, which is so not like him. Have tried with different brushes etc too, same result.

Just had a chat with the vet, she recommended back person first as sounds like it might be muscle spasms. So think will go down that road.
