...and even though my boy was abominably behaved and nearly squished him, he pronounced himself very happy with his progress since his stifle injury 2 months ago and could see no reason why we couldn't up the workload to 'proper' work and get him some turnout now.
Was really chuffed when I overheard YO speaking to visiting instructor about what good care I'd given him during his injury and how I deserved to have him back in full health

Which leads me to another dilemma - where to turn out?? I have the choice of:
His paddock - muddy, with a bog halfway along it and full of ruts. This would be my last choice, but it does have the advantage of having good grass, so he MIGHT just stick his head down and munch (somehow, after 2 months on box rest, I doubt this will happen);
Pen - 5m x 10m with 5 inches of sand and 6 foot high fences. I could put a hay net up for him. He's been in one of them before and went ballistic. I'm not convinced he would settle but then again, on a quiet morning with a quiet horse in the next door pen he just might (after he's had a kick and a buck and a fart). I also worry about any sudden changes of direction in such a confined space, seeing as he's just recovering from a stifle injury;
I could book the indoor school - 30m x 70m with special sproingy rubber / silica / sand surface. Plenty of space to really let rip, but is this what we want?

If I can help it, I'd rather not sedate him because that just puts off the inevitable. I'd rather he got it out of his system but want to do it in the safest way possible. Any thoughts?

Sorry, this was very long - alcohol and victoria sponge for those that made it to the end...

Hi,
SO pleased hes got better, Yippee,

I think I would put him out in his normal paddock,
as if hes not tasted grass for so long, hopefully, he will just graze,
If hes out alone, that would probably be better for him. If there is some company in the next field , that should keep him happy. Thats what i would do, I would fear if he went somewhere different, he would get stressed, aggravate the injury.
