Hi Bumbles_Bee - haha - it will prob be me!!!!

Although I dont have the bill yet, my 28 yr old has been colicy for a couple of weeks, 4 emergency calls outs, 4 lots of buscopan, 2 blood tests, internal exams, half a ton of bute and finidine, a huge tub of neigh lox and 2 weeks worth of gastroguard!

Because of his age insurance will not be paying for any of it!

He's my baby though, so worth eating beans on toast for the rest of my life!

My previous mare who was pts 2 and a half years ago with melanomas - had surgery to removed some, and was on cimetidine for about 2 years - her total bill was about 4 thousand - but lucky for me insurance paid for that lot!

The joy of horses eh!

She has remortgaged her house!

I have to say I love my ponies but I don't think I could afford to put myself in that much debt!

Cant rember the last month when didn't have a bill (from jan 08 till june this year i had two horses) think since 06 i can count on one hand the amount of months of not having one dred to think of total amount of them all!! the most in one month was over 4000k that was only a couple of months ago!! i think i should have share in my vets by now

Mine had an infected tooth too, had a GA plus lots of after care, came to just under £6k. Flared up again and again so more bills. Also same horse fractured his leg, that came to about £5500. Thankfully insured for £5k vets bills.

In the last year, 3 different claims are so far amounting to about £7K, but nowhere near finished; thank god for insurance!!

I don't have a bill - I have an account at the vets! I did idly do some sums one day and worked out her drugs alone had cost me £16000 over a recent 4 year period, so I'm guessing, about £30000 in the 11 years she has been on the drugs. Oh dear!
