My normal vet doesn't charge to fill in insurance claim forms (and believe me, I've had a lot in the last 12 months!). However in my most recent claim, my horse was initially seen my another vet. She was briefly on livery when I was on holiday, so the YO called their own vet initially, with my approval.
The amount was tiny, but as I was claiming on my own vet's bill for the remaining investigations and treatment, I also had to inform them of the initial visit from the other vet. The insurance company sent them a claim form. I've just been advised by the livery yard that I now owe the vet £17 for filling in the claim
Is this normal? Am I just lucky that mine doesn't charge? The nature of the first vets visit was just a physical exam - no x-rays, scans, drugs, treatments etc. My own vet would have filled in all the detail of what was wrong etc, so the original vet can only have had about a few sentences to put in.
Anyway I'm sure I'll pay up, but just wanted to canvass opinion on this one.
