She didn't have it yesterday only today, the vet is going to come out she is still eating fine and allowing me to touch move squeeze etc. On one side of her face she has what I think is a bone (could it be a problem tooth?) sticking out of her face making an almost ball before the cheek bone but above where the chewing motion is seen from outside. Anybody know or seen it before?

Darn can't add video if anybody's willing to let me message/email them it please do let me know. I'll find out for sure tomorrow but I'll be up constantly thinking about it so if anybody has any ideas.

Sounds like an abcessed tooth. Id be asking for a dental check, and don't just be fobbed off with anti-bs

It sounds like a broken tooth, it will be split and the broken part pushed out the way, hence the swollen jaw area, food will be packing in as well. Vet should be able to remove at least the broken part.

Update: Vet no show, not received a response off of them yet despite trying (guessing short staffed maybe) Should I call the emergency number?

Hi no there is absolutely no difference in her behaviour appearance anything no snotty nose no discharge no smell no fluid happy to eat just a bone hard lump :/.

Yes phone the emergency vet, your normal practice may not be staffed due to it being Christmas eve. Depending on what it is an infection could spell big trouble in a short space of time.

This is exactly what my horse had a few years ago. He had a head x-ray to check for foreign bodies, breaks etc. and nothing was found. He then had some time (a month? not sure as it was a few years ago) on very strong antibiotics. This didn't clear it up so I was in the process of arranging for an operation / extraction when it suddenly resolved itself. I'm still not sure if it was the antibiotics working late or exactly what sorted it. I had started washing his mouth out twice a day in that area using a large syringe and warm water containing bicarbonate of soda and essential oils (my mum is qualified in them and made a mix up for me), no idea if this helped. A few years later the same tooth broke off (outside the gum) so he now has to have 6 monthly dental work to control the opposite tooth. At no point did it cause him any obvious discomfort.

My mare had a broken and wonky upper molar (out of alignment with the rest of her teeth) at 4. This year (at 7) she had been packing food quite badly into the gap presenting as the lump you describe. She has just had the tooth extracted although this was a bit more lengthy a process than we expected as she had sinus infections and then post extraction an abcess in the bone. Best to get the vet to have a really good look, could be as simple as food packing a gap.
