This news items focuses on semen imported illegely.

I arranged for semen to be imported several years ago. The stud was close to the airport and sent someone to collect it.

Subsequently I had a query and discovered there was no customs or vet service record at the airport and the stud had lost the paperwork - if they ever checked it!!

Fortunately I did have copies of all the documents but those who should have checked did not.

I remember the trouble we had years ago when we tried to import semen, it managed to get all the way from Canada to Glasgow airport where it was stopped and returned to Canada because the correct paperwork was not included, had been advised by DEFRA that the paperwork we would be getting was fine, but the was stopped by Glasgow airport staff because it didn't have the correct paperwork, it was a nightmare at the time, but as the staff at the airport rightly pointed out there were so many risks involved without the correct paperwork, you wouldn't know if you were even getting the semen from the stallion you wanted, expensive lesson to learn at £800.00. I would buy from the UK banks in future.
