For my stroppy mare bag (see post from this morning).

So we will see if that makes any difference.

Anyone experienced it?

I would certainly be very interested in hearing how you get along with it! Might be a possible answer to my mardy b*****s problems!

had random napping/ planting fit today hacking with someone else so hacking out by ourselves certainly isnt her excuse

can i ask for a bit more info on regumate - ie what criteria is there for prescribing it, are tests needed, is the stuff itself prohibitively expensive? How long does it take in general for results to show?

A horse I used to work with is on regumate its still absolutley nutty. I worked with it on a dealers yard and it squirted practically all year round all the time! I saw it out competing a while ago and it was even worse, owner said it strops all the time, sometimes she cant even get it into the arena let alone jump it

I had a mare on it for quite some time. It worked wonderfully well and she was able to function day to day without hysteria and compete without trying to kill people.

The only thing with Regumate is you really DO need to heed the handling and storage precautions with all seriousness as its a powerful hormone.

Yes used pig regumate on my last mare (cheaper), not too sure if it helped though as she had so many problems but I think definatly worth trying!

Regumate does one thing - and one thing only (except when used in breeding.) As long as the mare is on it, she won't come into season. SO, if her ill manners are related to her coming into season, it will 'cure' her. But if she's ill-mannered and stroppy ALL the time, then it's unlikely to help.

I only buy the odd bottle for use in delaying foal heat with some mares, about £70 for 500 ml. For a 600 kg mare, the dose is 12 ml a day, so a bottle would last about 40 days. Not cheap even if it does the job. So you need to track a mare's bad behaviour against her cycle to see if it IS what is needed - or whether you need to be investigating other possible causes for her behaviour.
