vet just texted me to move xray time :(

Ah hun, so sorry they have to mess you around but "freaking cats" are living creatures too Poor moggy - much loved by somebody and maybe run over and close to death - is surely entitled to some care? Deep breath and let it go xxx

surelymy horse is also a living creature and the vet thought it urgent enough to have his first available slot im upset that some cat is now taking priority

Oh deary me. No disrespect hun but if you've got two living creatures and one needs an x-ray that will then have to be interpreted and a course of action decided upon and the other will die if not operated on in the next half hour.....?

I agree with BOF, some animals may have life threatening conditions which require immediate attention. The x rays will still get done, just a little later. I don't see what the problem is personally.

Got to admit if one of my cats needed life saving help I would hope the vets would prioritise

Like the others, if I was a vet, I would prioritise the cat over the horse. The horse needs an xray, not life-saving surgery. The xray will have the same results whether taken early tomorrow or late tomorrow; it sounds like the cat needs something to save its life, which may not work if it's done later in the day.

I'd also be pretty naffed off, as the cat owner, if my vet didn't prioritise my dying cat over a horse that needed xrays.

Good luck with the xrays, though.

FFS?? are you for real??
At least you have been given notice - i waited 4 hours for my vet as he had an emergency come into surgery as he was about to leave.

And you know what?? i wasnt bothered as that dog as it turned out needed immediate attention - my horse, who was also waiting for ex rays wasnt going to drop down dead in 4 hours and i should guess yours wont either.

Next time your horse has colic or some other major problem needing attention asap i wonder how u would feel being told he cant come as he has arranged to x ray a horse???

Get a grip.

actually, no, the horse is urgent, if there is anything that can be done he will be operated on there and then, if not he will have to be pts, so life threatening, yes.

Surely if it was so life threatening he wouldnt have been left over the weekend and would be at a vet college by now??

if it cant be treated it will mean he's pts, is that not life threatening? the vets (2 of) and dentist dont think it looks good for him, id say thats pretty serious

and if the cat was so serious wouldnt that have been treated over the weekend also?

Im not disputing the fact you are obviously upset however the vet has obviously decided the cat IS MORE IMPORTANT than your horse or else why change the appointment?

It was also your 'freaking cat' comment - just because it isnt your animal does not mean it is less important and doesnt deserve treatment.

Oh and also my horse that needed x rays may also have to be pts - he is 3yo.
Still i do not begrudge the dog that held my vet up - maybe its because im an animal person and care regardless of whether it is mine or not...

the fact is, to me my horse is more important, he is more importsnt to me than anything else in my life. he is more important to me than a cat i dont know belonging to a person i dont know. im sorry if you dont understand that but thats the way it is.

No i understand that - but fail to see how a few hours makes so much difference - specially as u were given notice.

What happens if he suddenly has to go to a colic before you?
U would still begrudge that horse the treatment?

Regardless of how u feel - your horse has been bumped for the cat, end of.

yes, but the surgery will not be done unless the xray says it needs to be done, and the xray can be done AM or PM. The cat may have anything wrong with it that requires life-saving surgery.

I despise the attitude that small animals don't deserve the same level of care as our large ones.

i think calling the woman a selfish heartless person is a bit harsh. i would be angry if my horse's x-ray was delayed, maybe i would think not to post that on this forum, but i would still be pissed off and i would be well within my rights to be. I would hope that that would not mean i am a selfish person??

I don't think that's the issue at all... She is within her rights to be upset her horse's xray has been delayed, but there was no need for the added 'for a freakin cat', as yes, that does make her sound selfish. I had to wait a week for my cat's tumour to be removed from her ear, so as this cat has been taken in as an emergency, I can only think it must be very serious. It's not even a matter of the horse's xray being moved to next week; it's just changed time!

hence the reason i said i personally wouldn't post it on a forum, knowing the commotion that would be caused. yes adding that does make her sound selfish but can anyone say, honestly, they haven't said something rash in the heat of a moment? im not a judgemental person and i would presume, seeing the 'good' in people before the 'bad' that she isnt a heartless person. is she not doing the right thing by helping her own horse?

i want to make it very clear that i do not agree with the fact she said 'freaking cat' however i wont be offended by it as i can see her point and others yet i dont feel she deserves to be called what she was.
