Well, I posted recently that my boy wasnt 'right' and felt like my vet wasn't really listening to me. Anyway, the vet did agree that all the sytptoms were not right and off he went to Liphook on Monday.

We arrived and he really did look like poo - Andy Durham agreed :(. He had a blood glucose absorption test, gastroscope and more bloods as Andy thought he might have ulcers. Tues showed up only one very small ulcer and a slight thickening of the gut, of which we have no idea what has caused it. However, more worringly is that the vets got him out and he was horrifically lame in all 4 legs. Now has the Ortho vets prodding him to see whats wrong. He has arthritis and had Kissing Spines (removed) and busted a front suspensory a couple of years ago but nothing seems to keep him down and he has kept going, despite me thinking every time he would have to be retired. Now I just feel sick with worry. They are nerve blocking his feet to see if its something there. If it is his OA that is causing probelms, what do I do? He isn't on bute, just Maxavita, which he has done well on to date.

If he is in that much pain thats its making him ill, I guess there is only one choice, unless I can keep him comfortable on painkillers. I am so terrified of losing him - I have had him 10 years and we have been through everything together. Its so bloody unfair on him that he keeps getting these problems. I just want him to be comfortable and happy.

Really sorry to read this. I hope that they can find out what's wrong & get him comfortable.

Keeping everything crossed for you. Good luck.

Sort of pleased and sad for you :( pleased because you managed to get them to take notice and do something and sad because they have not found anything obvious as a reason. hope they are able to find the cause for you

I think there's been a nasty virus going about, my lad was ill recently and another just dropped weight, trouble is, my vet didn't blood test, so we have no idea what he had. He had the shakes really bad, couldn't walk well, and a temp of 40.4 which indicated a raging infection/virus, he felt total pants for 4 days. He was box rested for 12 days in total, and it took a further 5 weeks before I felt he was completely over it.
I have my fingers crossed for your boy XX
