Vet recomendations in suffolk

I need to find a sensible but good vet to vet a horse. I cant use my vet as she has treated th horse in the past so no good.

I dont want someone to pick holes in him and fail him on something daft but equally want someone who knows what they are doing.


Any suggestions? With contact info if possible

A bold and untrue statement. BRD is tough on flexion tests, but if you want the vetting to tell you about the health and conformation of a horse then you can't rule them out.
 
I had PRD vet my boy - he passed the flexion - so from the sound of it i should be pleased!!!

If you get stuck you could have your vet do the vetting. These days vets have to be so careful with all the litigation that goes on that they can't withold info.....you may be at an advantage as your vet will be able to access the medical history of the horse?!?

ETS: Why not ring your vet on Monday to discuss, or at least get a recommendation from her?
 
I went from Ryder davies (wont mention why) and am now using Taylor and Lees. They seem to be ok so far, Failing that maybe Rossdales may come out (i heard a rumour they may come as far as ipswich) Don't know where you are though.

If you are in North Suffolk, how about Helen Mutimer at Chapelfield Vets in Long Stratton. Helen is very senisble - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her or any of her horsey colleagues.

As for Phillip R-D - I wouldn't use him to vet a hamster.

I would use Andy Bathe at Rossdales, also there is someone else that was highly recommended to me at Greenwood Ellis and partners, will find out his name in a mo..
Dont know Andy, but has been recommended ?
 
Right its Jeremy Allen from Greenwood Ellis. Kit279 on here who events said that he was very good, and very reasonable.

I totally understand what you mean by nit-picking vets that try and fail everything!!
 
I would speak to your own vet first and if they dont want to do it ask them to recommend another vet, your own vet will be looking after the horse if you buy it so always good to have them look first.

The advantage of your own vet if he has seen the horse before is that now a days he has to declare everything he knows about the horse so you could find out more than if you use another vet.

If you dont want to discuss with your own vet then I would definitely use either Rossdales or Greenwood Ellis.

Late to this thread but FYI I recently used Victor Franco at Three Rivers Veterinary Group in Beccles for a 5* and found him thorough but fair.
