Have put a deposit down on a horse in Sunderland yesterday but due to the price of him I would like to have a 5 stage vetting before parting with all my money! Getting my vet up to do it is going to cost an arm and a leg, can anybody recommend a decent equine vet in the Wearside area?

Mine is 40 min-1hr drive away (Hexham) so probably too far, but if you can't find anyone closer I can give you their details. They have a proper equine section with all the facilities, they know what they are doing.

For a vetting in Sunderland you could try either Young and Proctor at Stocksfield, or Blythmans at Gosforth or Graham Russ at Yarm. The closest is probably Blythmans as they have a branch surgery in Whitburn but I would recommend Graham as I've dealt with him and known him for a lot of years.

I had thought about Graham Russ but after giving it some consideration I have organised my own vet from Clevedale to do it, its probably worth the couple of extra quid mileage for him to go out as he knows me well and what I am after. Thanks for all your help though!
