Just wondering if anyone has or knows anyone who has a veterinary sales rep job?

I would love to know how they find it, how they vets appreciate visits, how often they are expected to make appointments, hours of a usual working day...

Just general information would be greatfully appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks for that LCobby. I did take a quick peek. The benefits all sound really good.

I just wondered how vets dealt with having to meet a number of reps all the time when trying to do their job. I would hate to feel as though I was holding them up when they have animals to help?

Also if the vets are hard to get hold of with the VN acting as a barrier?!

it is such a predicament! i THINK i would really enjoy the position... just need my gut instinct to tell me!!

I don't know much about it but i would imagine it would be similar to any sales rep job - like technical sales pharma industry. you have to push for the sale, make good contacts etc Part of being a good rep will be in having the ability to by pass the VN to get to the vet etc. you will have to be thick skinned as you will inevitably be interupting their work but you don't wnat to annoy them either as you will never make a sale if you do that.

i know that in my job, vet research, the reps are usually just a source of free chocies and when they ring to follow up on whatever rubbish we have spun them to get our free chocies the calls are rarely returned. obviously it will be more subtle than pushy sales but you will still have to be getting the money in but in a manner that is less agressive than some sales roles. i think any sales jobs have very long hours but the pay is good. It takes a certain type of person I think to do these kind of roles. I was considering it for a while but i am not sure I am cut out for it!

good luck whatever you decide.
