My 18 month filly cut the front of her hock on friday on electric wire. there are two big lacerations which the vet has connected to provide a drain in the bottom wound. He managed to stitch the top wound. she now has bandages +++ and it looks like a stooky! she's on box rest, bute, antibiotics and dressing changes every 2/3 days.
so does anyone know where i can get cheap supplies online as every dressing change i need......
1 melonet dressing
about 6 padding roll bandages
about 7 or 8 k band conforming bandages
2 cotton wool rolls
2 vetwrap
gaffer tape
so far it seems ebay might be best bet. vet has gave me supplies to change dressing tomorrow (he put first one on and check it and changed it yesterday) but will need to order supplies.

Try www.sphsupplies.co.uk - if it's not on the website call and they will track down anything you need at the best price they can get for you. Horsey people so will certainly understand.

They should be able to supply you with everything in one go.

The dressings you can buy at Boots. In all sorts of different sizes. Any decent tack shop/ feed shop ought to sell you vetwrap bandages and cottom wool etc. There is nothing exotic on your list.
 
Try Hyperdrug (if you google them they have a website) I'm sure they sell most, if not all of the things you need.
 
Thank you, I know we're not using anything unusual but using an awful lot. Just looking for recommendations so can find cheapest. Averages around 30 quid every 3 days. It's doing ok and so far getting stuff from vet which will be claimed on insurance as he's been out twice n is coming back on tues. Healing well but has some cotton wool stuck in stitches that ideally I'd like out of there. Very pleased that little soul stood to get it changed for first time without sedation. X
 
If its on insurance, get your vet to bring you out enough dressings for the bandage changes you do yuorself. Makes more sense to have it on the insurance - its still cheaper for insurance company that you change bandages yourself than the vet coming out. Its what you pay your premium for.
