My vet was talking yesterday about a video they showed at Cheltenham last week about the stress the horses legs go under when jumping. The little bits he was telling us were really interesting and I was wondering if anyone saw it or knows where I can find the vid online?
They were talking about how a horse lands over a jump, they slide the front feet forwards to shock absorb and therefore are front studs stopping the horse doing this? And when jumping up hill they can't slide the legs forwards so all of the shock goes up the leg. On this video you can see the shock waves going up and down the leg

I've seen a video like that. Quite shocking. It set me off considering designs that would allow a bit of "let go" for forward movement whilst preventing too much lateral movement on corners, but I haven't really got past considering it really.
