Veteran feeds for weight gain in a non-veteran

Anyone used a feed designed for veterans/oldies on a younger horse (horse is only 8) for weight gain and condition? What results did you have?

Haven;t done this myself but I know the difference between topspec comprehensive and seniour balancer is the senior has a joint supplement in it. so not sure you would need this.
