Well, Harry is coming up to 16 now so i was wondering about his insurance.
Is there any companies who do a veteran package or are very good fee wise with veterans?
Also i have noticed alot of places refuse to value over 1500 or so for them? Sorry to sound big headed but i think Harry is worth more than that and i would want him insured for more!

PetPlan. Had a claim 4 years ago for an infected tendon sheath op, they paid up the £1,000 no prob ( vet bill £3,000

) He was 26. Now just waiting for the end of the year when he wil no longer be insured for injury!

Have noticed more and more companies extending their policies these days(and so they bloody should, especially when you have had your horse insured for umpteenn yrs, never claimed and just because they hit 15 they written off to violent external injury only

),worth ringing around a few!!

Equestrian direct do vets!. My girl is insured( she is now 17) she is covered for everything a normal insurance policy would cover( plus extras i have included) Equestrian direct do full cover upto the age of 21 at least, without any restrictions. My younger mare is insured with the NFU who dont do a decent vets policy but are very good otherwise.

Our pony is with the nfu and has been from the age of 14, if a pony is with the NFU prior to turning 16 he becomes a veteran at 20, otherwise it is 16.

I insure my gelding with petplan when he turned 17 as most companies stop for illness before 25 years old and i wanted the longest time period i could for him to be insured. Although i did have to get a vetting to confirm his legs and eyes are healthy for them to take these exclusions off. He was lame once in dec 2000 and had conjunctivitus once in 2002! Thought that was a bit unfair.
