Vetinary Thermal Imaging

Has anyone in the UK used Thermal imaging in conjunction with their vetinary surgeon please? If so who and was it satisfactory?
 
Yes several times. They are one of the more expensive but i was pleased with the service.

My vet on the other hand wouldnt even bother looking at the reports. Vets vary greatly on their views of thermal imaging!
 
Total waste of time in my opinion, used someone recommended by my vet but a waste of a lot of money. Told me nothing, struggled to get any images, just wanted more and more money! Good job insurance were paying.
 
Yep, brilliant for me. Vets weren't too bothered looking at them but when bone scan came back it showed sacroiliac, same as in the image. Reimaged after steroid treatment and it showed massive difference. It's highlighted other things that I am now investigating with my vet.

I've just bought a little iPhone attachment thermal camera which is very rough and ready but means I can keep an eye on the overall picture and monitor changes. I'd use the pro's again if I wanted a proper picture.
 
Hi guys thanx for your responses but as I suspected and have found out first handed vets will not entertain Thermal Imaging! This seems ludicrous, they just say too many variables and inaccurate unless done in controlled conditions but I personally cannot see it is any more inaccurate than current situation I find myself in, two respected equine vets in my area have examined my horse, took x rays and come up with totally opposing ideas!!!! Which suggests X rays are only as accurate as people interpreting them as well!!!! But they make an awful lot of money from them where as wouldn't with thermal imaging as so quick and easy! My original question remains are there any vets in the UK who DO work with thermal imaging as prepared to travel

Fantastic diagnostic tool - pinpointed the point of the pain on more than one horse. Mega spoilt ponies - what a sad vet you have - it really is amazing - vet probably didn't understand how to read it.

South Power bought a thermal camera here in NZ around 1989 and hired it out with its technicians, the operator and the TV operator, they also gave you a video of the scan so you could show the vet.

It was used on a very valuable racehorse that would go lame on and off and the vet couldn't work out what the problem was - nothing showed up on Xrays. Imaging pin pointed an area within the knee, vet went in to investigate and found a tiny, tiny joint mouse. Once removed the horse went on to race successfully, and stayed sound.
 
Not my vet that was in the wrong! Got a great vet. It was the thermal imaging that was the complete waste of money in my opinion. Had pics done at quite large cost and then told X amount more for their chosen vet to analysis. Having given in depth history of horses problems to scanner my "report" consisted of everything I had already told them reported back to me!!
As I said before complete waste of my insurance companies money.
