Vets & Farriers around Braintree, Essex

Close vets are Paton and Lee (equine only practice) I'm not sure about farriers. It may be worth getting hold of an Essex rider magazine as they have a few advertised in there, or if you have Facebook, there is a group called Essex Horse Riders and I'm sure you'll get a lot of recommendations on there.
Hope that helps :)

Essexhorsevets.co.uk - Conor Fenelon, personal service as its either him or Marianna that comes out and they are an equine only practice. With what we've been thru in the last few years can't recommend highly enough. When one of mine was at another yard I found that people favour certain vets at the larger practices like paton & lee and you don't always get the one you want, but they have some fantastic facilities at Hoo Hall.

Farriers, there's a group round here that all qualified together. I prefer the one I use!

Essex Riders magazine is one place to look, the other is the notice board at Ingatestone Saddlery, there was one or 2 advertising on there the other day.

Another vote for Paton and Lee or Conor fenlon both excellent, farrier David Watson would only change if I moved away both cover the Braintree area I can pm numbers if you need them

House and Jackson for Vets, in particular Jane Jackson and Eric Beloy (if something wrong with legs).
Superservice, fab clinic and the best nurses. My gelding is always really glad to see them! Weirdo

I use Catley Cross Vets, they are 2 minutes up the road which can be very helpful at times and they've always been great.
There are quite a few farriers around David Watson, Steven Rust, Michael Sharp are some that I know of (used by some of my employees).

Firstly, wow what a lot of people in the Braintree area! Hello! I'm moving two of my four girlies up there (I don't see enough of my Saffron, and Misty is her best friend). I'd rather go for personal recommendations hence why I've avoided notice boards so far, would rather see what the 'real people' think :) Heard good things so far about Paton & Lees (though are they a little on the expensive side?) Absolutely gutted to be losing my farrier in Kent whom we've been with for about 13 years, so desperate to find someone who can equal him and put up with Misty's grumpiness.

Will check out all your suggestions, and feel free to PM me any contact details, many thanks!

I'm not in Braintree but near to Chelmsford, but hopefully this helps as I'm sure they cover Braintree. I use Blaircourt vets and I'm very happy with them, and I use John Simpson for shoes - again more than happy with him :)

Thanks everyone,

I've gone for Paton & Lee, as have heard lots of good things about them, and their basic prices seem good.

Have been given the name of John Salmon for a farrier as some people on my new yard use him and recommended him :)
