Try Margaret Warnby from Mansfield Woodhouse. There's also Chris Green in Sheffield (don't know if he'd go out to Alfreton) Francis and Herdman in Bakewell or dependable old Ian Taylor in Newbold (But don't know if he does vettings) Soz no numbers but shouldn't be too hard to find. Good luck. There is a practice in Alfreton but don't know what they are called or if they have a horse vet
The vets in Mansfield Woodhouse is Margaret Wharmby - she's the head vet and I think owns the practice, the practice is actually called Park Hall Veterinary Clinic - number is 01623 620784.
Can't think of anyone else off top of my head - will keep mulling it over though and let you know if I think of anyone!
Just found you Wharmby's number but see someone has got it for you. I would say they are the best bet, as they do have equine facilities, and i know Margaret herself is a bit of a horse expert.
Also found Wakerley and Speed, in Sheffield and Dronfield, again don't know if they do horses but number is 0114 2470828 or 01246 415270. Can't find Francis and Herdman but they deffo do horses.
There are a couple of vets at Margarets practice who are horse owners themselves and I think that always helps!
I don't know if you would get Margaret herself, usually one of the others would come out on a call out or vetting I think, worth asking if you could have her though but if not Emma and Sally are usually very good. I think Sally is the lameness expert as she was the one who saw my horse when he went in for his lameness work up.
Yeah...I use Margaret Wharmby and she is great...also try Peak Vets in Matlock who are very good and horsey too - 01629 582844 (they are very close to Alfreton).
