Vets in Goole area

I just bought a pony subject to vetting :-)

Now I need to sort out the vetting! Pony is at a place called Balne (post code DN14). Anyone know of any reliable vets around that area? the owner uses Minster Vets so I think I should avoid them?

Vermuyden horse vet is on holiday. have arranged vetting with Ledston vets in castleford & it is costing £228 inc VAT & call out. Is this about normal?
 
I ride round Balne, your just up the road from me.

Rodi at Vermuyden is very good, we've used Rodi for the last 18 years, he's wonderful and is a horseman himself.

For call outs that are not serious and rountine jabs/passports etc the below are cheaper, as they work in our area on Mondays, I'd use the main vet Richard if you were wanting a vetting.

Minster at York tend to have a good feed back, not used them myself though.
 
We use Minster on our yard, and theyre very good, theyre also having free lectures every month at the moment on things such as colic, and lameness.
Also used Rainbow and Swanland, though had bad experience with Swanland.

I would try the Equine Veterinary Centre in Doncaster. They go to the Goole area every Monday for half the visit price! but can visit any day if you need them. They have an experienced vet who lives in Howden who I get to come out as I live near Selby. The other 3 vets are great and they have all the latest equipment and are very reasonably priced. I recommend them whole heartedly.
 
The big drawback with Vermuden vets at Goole is that Roddy is a one man band and so unreliable. When you need him quickly he is away at the other end of his patch. He has had one or two good vets to work with him but also some real crap ones.

As you have already found that when he is on holiday there is no one to replace him.
