Does anyone know any decent equine vets in this area (or failing that ones to avoid!!)?
Trying to get a pony vetted but being a bit mucked around by my own vets on what rates they will charge me to travel there so thought might be worth using a practice local to the pony. The seller is a client of Walmsleys though so are there any others that any of you could recommend?
Many Thanks!!

These ones are about 16 or so miles away and are very good ... used to use them a long time ago, but changed to a more local one ... http://www.arundelhorsevets.co.uk/our-practice/

These are my Vets and I can recommend the Partners Judy and Ben .... they are about 23 miles away ...

Hope this helps

I can recommend Mayes and Scrine as well, or Middleton and Hennesey based in Brook near Haslemere on 01428 685500, they vetted my boy a couple of years ago and their rates were very reasonable.

Mayes and Scrine get my vote - I knew Ben Mayes very well when he was still working with his previous partner (was it Colin?) anyway, he is a brilliant vet and not much gets past him, especially in a vetting. He is brutally honest and a top class vet IMO. He vets horses for my best friend, who spends hundreds of thousands on dressage horses, and he also vets horses for the eventer Chris King so he is well respected.

John is very good and very close as he is Midhurst too.

Another vote for Mays and Scrine, had one vetted by them just before xmas, sadly he was lame so vetting was stopped and I only got charged for a 2 stage vetting. Dont think there's any of their vets that I'd say dont use, Ben is very good on vettings and so is Anna, not had any of the others for a vetting only treating my horses.

another for Mayes and Scrine!

zoeshilo you're right his name was Colin Bond and he was a brilliant vet, I always used him. I also knew Ben when he was a very keen assistant!
Colin vetted my horse Rocky when I sold him.

John Dunsford used to be my vet when I lived down south, I thought he was brilliant and always regretted having to find a new vet when i moved.
ETA but the vets i found in Yorks are fantastic too!
