I've recently moved to the area and I'm thinking again about Vets, does anyone have any good/bad experiences overall.

My previous vets were excellent, specialising in horses, and being quite low key, happy to give advice over the phone (although they did know me well) and not pushing to do too much if the main treatment would be rest anyway.

My new yard currently uses Fellows I've had minimal contact, they seem to be good vets but perhaps a little over zealous with investigation, and they seem to be quite expensive.

Other vets I know of:

Cambridge University Vets
Rossdales
Newmarket

Before I register does anyone have any opinions or other suggestions.
PM me if you'd rather.

Thanks

I use the University vets since they opened the practice and have found them be very good, students are supervised by very experienced vets, the vets are used to explaining things so you learn a lot. Over the years I have used The Isle Practice but got fed up with some of the vets they sent out, although David Scott is good I have also used the vets at Abbots Ripton, but they are more expensive, and in my experience not much customer service.
We are very lucky that we have so many good ones to choose from.

Cambridge University Vet School and Rossdales are both very good. I've been with Rossdales in the past but moved to Cambridge uni because I moved yard and everyone there used the same vets so thought it would be more convenient. They were both as good as eachother, and have all the high tech equipment and specialised equine training you'd want, so I think the decision can just boil down to whichever is closer. If there's other people on your yard who use Cambridge uni it might be worth using them because they give a discount on call outs if there's 3 or more horses to be seen.

Isle Veterinary Group (David Scott) is excellent, although we mourn the loss of Rebecca who moved to Southampton. They are also a GREAT deal cheaper than Fellowes Farm at Abbots Ripton (pm me if you want re this vets). Isle have on-site facilities as well as portable facilities. They will do a full lameness work up at your yard, including scans and x-rays, whereas a certain other vet practice will have you down to their facilities in a jiffy and the bill for the privilege can be eye watering. Rossdales and University vets are also superb. AHT is also that way.
