Keith is great. I don't think Wakefield would be too far out in respect of call out charge. Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head in the Leeds area anyway! He is very good for pre-purchase vettings.
I have seen a 3 year old fell gelding ... its a bit far for me to travel but I would be willing to buy him unseen on the back of a full vetting by a very good vet.
He has been bitted and lunged, so would be able to do everything bar ridden test, but could be lunged to check heart rate etc.
Everything they see has bone spavin - infact they came outto check my horse once as he had slipped and pulled his stilfe they told me my 5yr old that had only ever hacked had bone spavin in both back legs and was 3/10's lame upfront
The actual prognosis was he had a massive stone in his front shoe (they lunged him on gravel) and had a sore stifle
No bone spavin and definately not 3/10's lame once you had pulled the stone out - they wanted to take my horse and scan/ nerve block and x ray - How much would that have cost me???? Keith came and told me exactly what was wrong and it cost me an exam fee a physio appointment and slowly and surely back into work! Not just my experience either loads of people on my old yard had the same experience. Infact Saragema had one vetted they said couldnt pass it cost not sure if it just moved differently or was lame
Springvale or springdale carriages will transport for you. You'll need to google them, but I've used then a few times for long journeys and have always been happy. (blokes name is Dan Hudson)
As I would only be buying it on the back of a full vetting, I would like a vet that is very thorough ... I have seen some vets pass a horse who is clearly lame and dont really like the idea of a vet who doesnt know if a horse has an unusual action or is lame (although I wouldnt really want the horse in either case to be honest).
def recommend westwood, extremely good with legs, wouldnt touch ledston at all or dunlop, hutchinson and baird, i like minster equine clinic at york but probably a bit far for them to travel
Phil was off, think he maybe back now though. I had horse vetted last month and wanted Phil but he was off however Tom is equally as good, many many years experience
I would also recommend Churchfields from Barnsley. Tom has been my vet for near enought 12 years now and he has always been very, very good. I've never had a horse vetted but I would imagine a very thorough examination. Have only had Phil out once on an emergency, but again certainly have no complaints about his service.
