It's been a while since I posted here, so I don't know if I can get up the pic of my latest foal. He's very cute, and 'normal' and gee - he has a heartbeat. Mare was scanned SIX times after covering by my new (and now EX) vet - because of her gloom and doom. Fist the foetus was malformed, had a 'weak' heartbeat at 28 days, and at 60 days had NO heartbeat. And this vet was meant to be experienced and an equine specialist. Now I'm waiting for Cleo to foal - FOUR scans said she was not in foal - maybe it's a huge stomach tumour, lol. http://www.saddle-up.org/forums/upl...lt-1.jpg.cbd0abe77a9a88e482d13267438865b1.jpg

Congratulations! And wow, at the now ex-vet <g>

ETA What has the vet said about it all? Was it snow on the tracks, or did they blame the dog?

lol, she's not talking to me now - she no doubt sees my correspondence with the Veterinary Defence Society as I chase her a*se over a previous bit of uselessness. And I am about to ring them to demand the back x-rays they took of another horse (have got to keep them on their toes.)

Who or what are the veterinary defence society? I am chasing a vet for wrongful and negligent vetting, and have only heard of the RVC mediation service which sounds a bit fluffy to me.

It's an insurance company whose sole aim is to prevent people from winning claims for negligence against vets. No matter how much at fault the vet is.

From my experience it is very fluffy! Vets ignored it, so end of mediation :rolleyes3:, RCVS advised I could escalate due to the nature of the compliant but to be honest I couldn't go through all the hassle so left it.

This might explain more about the different procedures:

I have to say the RCVS were really helpful to me and did take it seriously, but unless you want to really fight or its very clear cut negligence it will probably be hard work.
