My horse spent 3 nights at the vets last week having a slumber party, we are going back for another day of partying this Friday, fun times!

The vets in question are really nice people, and didn't make me feel like an idiot with all my questions :o

Now, they seem to eat a lot of cake at this vets, so my question is - do you think I should bake them one?! :D

I was thinking a pumpkin/butternut squash choc spiced number, sounds weird, but its lovely!

I can see how that would be more appropriate, but I only have a cake book from green and blacks so everything involved chocolate! Any good carrot cake recipes?!

Green and blacks book is amazing, it has savoury recipes in it too, chocolate venison, chocolate sausages, chicken mole, chocolate lamb - I'm am veggie, but I can see how they would appeal - its amazing!

Now I'm hungry! Lemon drizzle cake is also a fave, maybe I should branch out and do two?!

Google yummy scrummy carrot cake, but make the icing with cream cheese and icing sugar instead of the icing they syggest.

LOL at your discription of stay at horsepital as a slumber party, will probably cost more than your average slumber party!
I,ll take your word that the cake you mentioned is lovely!

What a great place to work.

Fwiw, my gave cake at the minute to make is a lemon thingy.

Crushed biscuit base
Lightly whipped cream
Condensed milk
2 lemons

Poor wet on to biscuits

Chill

Enjoy

And of course it is calorie free :D

I think you should make me this cake and i'll let you know if its ok for them:D:D:D it sounds bloody brilliant

Hmm, those carrot cakes do look good - does the one with pineapple taste a bit weird though?!

Marydoll, the cake is brilliant, and solid enough to spread butter on......

Horse isn't too ill (I hope) just has an odd lameness we can't get to the bottom of - trying not to think the worst :)

I could maybe, but I think before I do that Lubuzz needs to share the love with the free Green and Blacks

Looks like I'm making a mess in the kitchen tomorrow then - thankg od for my inherited Kenwood! :D

(can't help thinking the vets will think I'm a bit of a loser though! )

Yes, the vets will love to be appreciated. My daughter rather tentatively baked cakes and took them in on the last day of her first veterinary work exp placement, they all disappeared in record time and whenever she went back everyone asked for more cake. :D

Thanks, now the hardest decision is deciding which one!

Spending time at the vets makes me realise how great it would have been have trained as a vet (not least for the cakes!), now I regret not trying harder when I was told I was too stupid at 16 :o

I went for a green and blacks recipe, lemon drizzle cake with chocolate in - looks good, and the batter tasted good, so hopefully will turn out ok tomorrow! :D

Dunno about all this chocolate but I made a chocolate cake what no onw ouwld eat once. Never tried again.

Plum is popular nowadays. try a plum cake. not kiddin you, My mate once made a plum cake for our vet.... ended up marryin' im the bit**^/.
