If you were buying an older pony (20) would you get them vetted? I’m thinking of a 2 stage so we go into this with our eyes open to make an informed choice, but appreciate with age he might not pass (although he seems full of life, enjoys his work and moves as well as a younger horse). What are people’s thoughts on this? Thanks in advance

If the pony is priced to reflect the age I personally wouldn’t bother. There is bound to at that age be some minor ailments. I would possibly test for cushings and check for severe arthritis. If the pony is priced highly then possibly a 2 stage would be a better and cheaper option. Remember most insurance companies do not cover vet fees over the age of 20 so this will need to be something you factor in to your budget. Good luck ?
