Hiya, I know theres been a lot of vetting related posts but this is slightly different..
Have had my horse nearly a year- was offered him by dealer/farm owner under the proviso that I would have him as my own and start him competing etc with owner giving me money to enter shows and keep an eye on progress.
Long story short!! Hes now mine, need to send off passport and waiting for receipt but am unsure of vetting/insurance.
Ive seen his year old 5* certificate, been told will be void due to timeelapsed. Should i vet again? will insurers insist on a 5*? Am i just paranoid therll be an exclusion!!??
Help?
oo..anyone insure with NFU?

You will need to check with who you are insuring with, but i have mind insured with KBIS and you can insure a horse with them up to £5000 without a vetting certificate. I think most insurance companies are the same.

Agree totally with xbessx, I'm with NFU & they are the same as KBIS. If you value your animal at over £5000 you will need a 5 stage vetting certificate.

If you aren't too worried about a lump sum to pay for replacing your animal should anything bad happen then I suppose you could save money for insuring it for a lower value, i.e. under £5000. You would pay a lower premium but would still get the vet cover you want & save money. Just a thought?
