Vetting X Rays

Super disappointed, have put a deposit on a horse, and had the vetting today, = arthritic changes in his one hock - not fused as yet - both my vet and the vetting vet have told me to find something else, which I will most likely do, I cant afford another field ornament.

Thoughts ?

How disappointing.

You would be best to follow the vets’ advice and walk away. Some horses can be managed quite well with hock arthritis if it is caught early, but it is by no means a given.

What were you intending to do with the horse?

Was the horse showing any lameness on trot ups and flexions or was this an incidental finding

The vetting vet has been told the purpose(s) you wish to use the horse for and they have told you its unsuitable. Just walk away. I know it's difficult when you have invested a load of time, money and emotional energy into this. The right horse which is sound and healthy will come along, it took me more than 6 months and I know the bitter disappointment when you eventually find the one and it doesn't work out. Horse buying is a minefield.

My guess is the horse was sound and the arthritis came to light on x rays if the horse had looked lame the x ray bit doesn't normally happen.

But I could be wrong
