vetting youngster's

Hello,
Just wanting some advice, have somehow talked myself into looking at a couple of young horses, yearling and 2yr old, as my current dressage horse is getting on a bit, have not brought a horse for over 15yrs and have never had one vetted, am I right in thinking a vet could only really do a 2 stage on a youngster??
Any advice would be welcome, thank you in advance, xx

Hello, I had my yearling vetted and they can only do a stage 2.
Sometimes, depending on how well handled your horse is they can't do a flexion test but apart from that a stage 2 should be enough for your insurance and peace of mind at that age.
They checked his heart, looked in his eyes, teeth, ears, pulled on his tail made him turn tight circles, checked his back and legs and mine did do a flexion.
The vet told me he couldn't do a stage 5 until he was backed/in work as they need to see your horse before and after exercise.
My last horse was 3 and a half and wasn't broken but lunging and so he did a stage 5 which was all of the above and also before and after a lunge in walk trot and canter.
