basically i might be getting a horse

theres nothing wrong with him

but my mind is telling me to still get him vetted

but the cost to bring him down is £485 and i dont have much cash to spare

what do you all think? (ps no mean comments please!)

how about getting just a 2 stage vetting instead of a 5 stage ??

Also hope you dont mind me asking but how much are you paying for this horse and what do you want to do with him/her?

Get a vetting, and ask your vet to recommend one nearer to where the horse is.

There was nothing wrong with the horse that I bought recently - until the vetting turned up several issues.....

i was thinking of getting a 2 stage vetting how much would that be?

i am paying £2500 for him hes a 16hh 8years old, and hoping to do schooling, hacking and a abit of showjumping and xc

Please get a 5 stage vetting, you can't put a price on peace of mind, he also seems reasonable for his age and price, your vet should recomend someone closer which should get you down to about £200.

There was nothing wrong with Bailey until vet pointed out bowed tendon and he failed the flexion test he was advertised for £2K I got him for £600 it was a calculated risk and hes been sound ever since and |I 've never had a problem my £200 vetting saved me over a grand.

Get him vetted. Speak to your local large animal vets who you will be using & explain that you need your horse vetted. They will be able to give you detainls of a vet in the area of where your horse is & it will save you alot of money. Tell ther vet doing the examination what yopu propose to have the horse for & they will be able to asist you.

You need to get him vetted though. As has been said it will cost you some money but it may save you thousands in the long run.

Get him vetted, 2stage will tell you some things, but a 5 is so much better-wouldnt it be awful if you get him home and discovered there was something wrong? also- do you need a vets cert for insurance?

For what you want to do with him, it would definitely be worth getting a 5 stage vetting. This usually costs approx £225 - which is the cost of a couple of rugs! As others have pointed out, it could save you lots of money and heartache.

thanks everyone
