You may remember my post before about my vetting failing prior, and me having to move on from the horse.
I haven't been able to find even another to view until today when I viewed a gorgeous Irish thoroughbred, 7yo, and never raced. I really did like her, even though she's green, so I'm going to book a vetting on Monday. After last time, it's a bit nervewracking. Not really sure what replies I'm expecting, maybe some success stories would be nice :)

This might be a little contentious, but horses don’t fail a vetting. Something shows up the potential purchaser won’t accept. Someone else may have no issue with the same result. Personally I would love to see the phrase phased out.

Horses deemed not fit for the purpose of the buyer are vet failure for the buyer.

Many vettings are also stopped part way through. Those are outright vet failures, if the vetting isn't even completed.

You have to have words to that effect otherwise dishonest dealers and agents will not return your deposit. The cost of horses is high and you are expected to put down a 10% deposit which is usually returnable only on a vetting failure, it's a lot of money especially if you have multiple vet failures. I've just had one, the agent initially refused to return the money as in her opinion (but not the vets) the horse was OK. I did have another deposit stolen which I couldn't get back despite having a ccj.

I just had one vetted that had uveitis … that’s a fail in most people’s book - felt sorry for the vendor cos I am pretty sure they didn’t know

Yeah, the one I had done before the owner defo had no clue of any suspensory issues because of the routine and the dark mornings and nights. It was just devastating- he was a nice, big warmblood X :(
