I have read a couple of posts where people mentioned that they didn't get their horse vetted when buying it, for whatever reason (usually because its a cheap horse). If you don't get the horse vetted when buying it, either the two-stage or full five-stage, does that affect your insurance? Will insurers cover a horse that was bought unvetted, or ask for a higher premium, etc?

If the horse is vetted any minor points that the vet has noted are quite likely to be excluded by the insurance.

As vets tend to note everything these days, even if not affecting the horse you can end up with a huge list of exclusions on the horse.

Its easy to get a horse insured without a vets certificate, usually the horse needs to be under 5K. I believe most insurers will give you a discount on the premium if you produce a vets certificate though
