Took Benji to the Veteran Horse Society 2 day show yesterday at Arena UK. Plaited the little fella up at the crack of dawn and arrived nice and early ready for our classes. His first class was the Anglo/Part bred arab in hand class, in the main arena. Benji walked around nice and calmly and trotted up beautifully when asked. The judge went over each of us and after a while we walked on only to be pulled in first.
We then had to go into the Overall arab championship where the 1st and 2nd from both the pure bred and part bred classes, again he really showed off in his trot up and felt lovely and loose and uphill and we won the championship!! I was so pleased as Benji hasn't been out all year so to do this after not being out for so long was a massive achievement. He received a lovely big rosette and a beautiful sash and thoroughly enjoyed his lap of honour!!
We had quite a wait until his next class which was the in hand small riding horse and although he went beautifully again he seemed a little smaller than the others and wasn't as typey so was pulled in 4th. I was absolutely chuffed to bits with him as 3 years ago we never thought he would come sound again after fracturing his sidebone, so this is a real bonus that he is able to do what he loves and have some success. Bought a professional piccie from yesterday and will scan it in sometime... Sorry this post is a bit self indulgent but i am just so proud of my little chap!!
