Genie came out of the stable lame last Thursday, cue a vet's call and expecting an abscess. Sadly, in true Genie style, she's being more complicated and the vet was able to narrow it down to her stifle but ruled out the ligaments around that area. She had an intravenous injection and three days on 3 bute a day.
Trotted her up at the end of the 3 days and still lame - sent video to my amazing vet who said to cut her back to 2 bute a day for three days and go from there. Next trot up this morning.
Needless to say she's still dog lame, video sent to the vet and she's referring her to a lameness specialist. We are still hoping it's just a knock, but it could be a chip or fracture, or something completely different!!!!
I'm worried sick about her, this mare is my life and as much as I adore Titchy Genie will always be my number 1. I've cancelled our final outings to get our BD Regionals Q points and have withdrawn her from camp in 2 weeks, although if by some miracle she's sound then she will go just to hack for a few days.
Vibes very much appreciated. I am waiting for the specialists to let me know when they can see her.
