Joey went slightly lame a few days ago and was immediately brought in for box rest and given anti inflammatories/painkillers thinking it was a bruise or something minor.

He was no worse yesterday and the recommendation was keep him in etc.

Well today I couldn't get him up. He is very sore and can barely put weight on his foot (near fore.)

There is no heat, no swelling etc and we're abit stumped.

Vet is coming back out in 20 minutes, and I'm actually really quite worried.

I'm hoping it's just an abcess or something similar... but even when we got him and he had severe laminitis he wasn't like he is at the moment.

Vibes would be much appreciated for my little ginger man.

xx

Thanks everyone.

Joey has been poulticed, got lots of painkillers, lots of crossing of fingers etc.

I now am on a desperate quest to find a proper stable (not just a rickety old field shelteR) to keep him in for a week.
He can't walk anywhere, we don't have a trailer... what the hell am I meant to do?

I'm meant to be leaving for work in half an hour, i've got a lame pony tied up outside, with no where for him to go, and no way to get him to where he needs to be.

Do you ever just feel like whatever you do isn't going to be good enough? *is at a loss*

How rickety is it? RObinsons sell a Shire Stall Guard for £25.00 so you can leave the stable door open but keep your horse secure within, though that might not work if its a wide field shelter. Is he likely to wiggle his way out underneath if you have a heavy duty chain you can sling across the front with a clip on one end. Hope it's nothing too serious and he's out and about again very soon.

Massive hugs for the Floooof! I couldn't bear it if he was poorly!!!!
Big squeezes for both of you and get better soon Joey so I can be mean to you again!

Thanks for all your replies.

As BE mentioned, we've managed to use the garage again. It's not ideal, the reason we didnt want to is because the roof was blown half off in the winter time and so it's not particularily safe also it is now prone to water flooding it or gathering in it. All we can hope is that is doesent rain in the next week. Scotland? lol.

Anyway, managed to get a delivery of shavings and hay. Vet left me with stuff to poultice him with (animalintex etc) and we've got danilon and the other one which i can never remember the name of.

He's quite content, though the door my dad made for Boo while she was in the garage is too high so i'll need to get him to cut a bit off so Joe can look out.

Thanks for all your thoughts, vet basically thinks he's really bruised it somehow, but as he's so lame and hasn't improved he's worried that he may have done more than bruise it.
We'll wait and see.
