I posted the other day about Bolly having a snotty nose on friday, and looking very quiet. (Not like him he is usually climbing the walls after a week of no work due to a frozen arena!)
Got the vet on fri night, and she decided that he had a abcess (sp?) on a tooth/root, and the 'snot' was actually puss coming down his nose.

He was very sore over his sinus's and didnt like her prodding under his eye, on that side.
So he was put on one AB powder a day (which i didnt think was alot?) Vet said if he is no better by yesterday he needs to come in for xray and poss to drain the abcess.

So taking him in tomorrow, hoping he doesnt need it draining and a hole drilling into his face.

To make it worse my dad went away to New York on the day Bolly got ill, and comes back tomorrow, hence the delay in getting him to the vets. Also Bolly is he fav horse, so he's prob been worrying about him.

Poor boy - bet he feels awful.

If it's any consolation, my old pony had something similar, had facial x-ray and looked like absess on tooth root, sent home on antibio's for a week to try to eliminate as much as possible and was due to go back for tooth extraction through nasal bone the following week - 3 days later was as right as rain - vet decided that shadow was possible bone growth from old injury (like a kick) - I owned her another 2 years and the person I sold her to has had her since (15 years) and it's never happened again.

Good vibes heading over in the hopes it's a similar thing with yours

Thank you, i will let you know the outcome of weds trip to the vets.
He does look abit better in himself this morning, but the puss is streaming out of his nose and is rather smelly (sorry!) Also this morning (7am) he was licking it with his tongue, that really knocked me sick!

Try not to worry.....My horse has had the hole drilled in her head (twice) and drain put in..... it didnt look very nice at the time, but honestly it made her feel loads better, and she really enjoyed having it flushed. Also her wound healed up really quickly (it was less than 6 weeks ago and you would hardly tell it had been done). She also went on to have sinus flap surgery as hers was quite complicated (fractured skull)...and that has given good cosmetic results also. All the best and I hope hes OKxxx
