So the vet came today and its really bad news. Sadley its not a simple colic case at all but much more serious.
We had to discuss putting her to sleep and are looking at a trip to Bell equine for some tests asap. Bloods are being checked now and she is on emergency watch.
She has an unknown blood virus, extreamly low heartbeat, and the back half of her rectum has died, the muscle has stopped working and she can no longer poop. Her poop has built up inside her and is slowley leaking out into places it shouldn't, she is not absorbing anything from her food at all so is literally starving.
Normally it takes at loeast two sedations to knock her out, today she hit the floor after less than half.
We have another vet on the way for a second opinion and she is on pain killers and something to relax the gut muscles.
Her weight has dropped so much we can see every part of her spine. In a matter of days she has gone from fit healthy showjumper, to this.
I'm seriously in need of some vibes as this girl means the world to me.
x

Hugest vibes for you and some huge {{hugs}}
I think we have met before if you are part of the Green Livery near Dallington. I came to have a look round when thinking about puting my youngster on grass livery with you.

I am so sorry to read this, it must be dreadful. Take comfort that you are doing all you can to remedy her discomfort and being the best owner you possibly can.

Hope you get some posiitive news but dont feel guilty if the kindest option is to let her go.Poor little mare x

Thank you

This is every owner's very worst nightmare and my heart goes out to you. I wish there was something helpful I could say or do but it sounds like she's in the best hands that can help her. Stand by her and keep giving her all the love you can. Stay strong for her.

So sorry, you must feel terrible.

Thank you thank you thank you, she has been squishing her nose onto the key pad on my lap top and trying to type, but her spelling is pretty poor so I have taken over! xxxxx

I'm so sorry to hear this. Lots of (((hugs))) for you & healing vibes & prayers for Olivia. If love & good wishes were enough she'd be fat as a pig & bouncing around like Tigger on speed!

Wishing you and your girl all the very best, and lots of vibes coming over for her <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

big sympathy and hugs to you.
a few years ago one of my horses had something similar with the failure of the muscles in the rectum, and my excellent vets did everything they could but we had to let him go. really hope your poor girl pulls through.

Mini update - Today the bloods came back normal! which is VERY odd, the vets are at a loss and have suggested getting a new vet out for a fresh look, next step is a rectal biopsy. Fingers crossed.
