My girly managed to really beat herself up in the trailer on Sunday, resulting in the removal of her right back shoe and twising the left so that the clip was under her sole.... this has not made for conducive travelling and now her hock is all swollen.

She has now gone from stiff to lame and her hock is now twice the size it was.

I am now waiting to see if the vet can come and see her tonight and if I can get out of work early to sort her

*sigh*

I was doing so well keeping her from the TB inury helpline too

Ru has really had the run of it hasn't she? Any idea what happened to her in the trailer or why it may have happened?

Anyway, hope she's okay. Let us know what the vet says. I'll be thinking of you and Ru.

Will try and give you a call sometime soon, but like you, I'm working both full time and part time and it's hard to get anything else done!

Thank you all

I think my head is now coming out in sympathy with Ru's leg!!

OK.... the vet has been and the diagnosis is quite positive considering. Those HHO vibes really do seem to work

She is coming up short on the right and is partially dragging the left rather than coming through with the movement. She has swelling from the hock through the inside of her leg which is compromising the flexion through the hock. Increased pulse etc.

So 10 days of anti-b's, 5 days of 2 bute a day, with box rest until friday, then gentle walk work while she is on the drugs. Once those are done she should be able to come back into full work.

Vet also said that needs her backs back on (still trying to get hold of the farrier) and that I need to get her back onto the trailer asap and do some "remedial" work with her.

So it would seem that we will live to fight another day
