Please can I put my hand up and request some of the famous HHO vibes.
My big grey is currently in the horsepital and was due to go under general anaesthetic today for keyhole surgery in his fetlock. Have just received a call from the vets to inform that he has an irregular heart beat and they are going to have to investigate this before they can give him the GA.
I really hope it is nothing, and they can go ahead with the procedure. I was worried enough about the GA, but this has just capped it all

Vibes hon, hope all goes well, but I have heard of some very successfull horses with heart murmurs, so try not to worry too much

Fingers are tightly crossed for you!

When my mare underwent colic surgery they found an irregular heart beat, or murmur, when prepping for the GA. She has tests following the surgery and these showed a completely normal heart beat, so no murmur at all

Some horses, like us, can develop this in stressful or painful situations it seem.

I hope yours is one of these cases, but if not, like KatB has said, there are many super horses out there with murmurs, and the anaethetist will be aware of it and keep an even closer eye on the stats.

Oh Gawd! Fingers and toes and everything else crossed for you and your boy. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, although you will - lots.

My vet said murmers/irregular heartbeats are quite normal in big horses. My mare has this and has undergone two lots of surgery under general and was fine both times.

Lots of vibes for your boy - I'm sure he will be absolutely fine.

I hope it all goes well. DOn't panic though, we discovered my mare has a mumer earlier this year and had it scanned as she was eventing at the time and i panicked. It is nothing to worry about though and doesn't effect her at all. Most mumers are nothing to worry about at all.
